“I sense a tension during this campaign between the two status quo candidates and candidates who want change. Larry O’Brien and Jim Watson have both held positions in Ottawa before, so they represent the status quo.”

“The type of change that I’m interested in seeing has to do with sustainability issues. I am a Green Party member, I believe in environmental sustainability. If a given policy is not sustainable long-term, then it’s not a good policy. While I don’t have the name recognition of some of the other candidates, I feel that I’m playing a valuable role by simply talking about issues than nobody else is talking about.”

“Cullen has his work cut out for him. When he announced his candidacy for mayor back in January, he assured reporters he was in the mayor’s race for the long haul — and would be in it on election day. Pressured by reporters, he admitted: I don’t want to be the councillor for Bay ward.”

“And there’s the rub. Now he’ll have to attempt to continue to convince both pundits and the public that Bay ward is really where he wants to be.”
